When Shon opens a regular dating app, there is no way to show who she really is. There is no language that recognizes her complexity, no matching that understands her life, and no way to meet people who share a similar reality. Instead of seeing a woman with an inner world, passions, and a desire to love, the first thing people see is the wheelchair.
In practice, Shon – like many others – is excluded from digital dating. There are no relevant filters, no safe space, and no platform that recognizes her basic right to love, without apology and without having to explain herself again and again.
